What's the vibe like in Goa in May? Worth coming?
Most people say avoid summer but I'm thinking of coming in late May before the monsoon hits. Is it really that bad? Still some events happening? I can handle heat but I'm worried about everything being shut down and having nothing to do. Would love to hear from people who've actually been here off-season.

May is hot and humid but honestly, it has its own charm. Far fewer tourists, prices drop by 50-70%, and you get a much more authentic local experience. Many beach shacks close but the permanent restaurants stay open.

Late May is when the pre-monsoon showers start — it cools things down and the landscape turns green. Some of us actually prefer this time. Just bring mosquito repellent and be ready for afternoon downpours.

The party scene slows down but doesn't stop completely. A few venues run smaller events year-round. Check GOA.LIVE closer to the date for updated listings. Coworking spaces and cafes stay open too.

I came in May last year expecting nothing and had an amazing time. South Goa is beautiful, the waterfalls start flowing, and you can get beach huts for a fraction of peak-season prices. Highly recommend it for budget travellers.
